The Investment Associate Role
South Park Commons is seeking a passionate and intellectually curious Investment Associate to join our pioneering team in Bangalore. This is a unique opportunity to be working closely with the brightest minds in the ecosystem. You will play a critical role in identifying, evaluating, and supporting the most promising founders and ideas, often before they even become companies.
This role goes beyond traditional VC; you'll be an active participant in our community, helping to shape our axes of curiosity and contribute to the success of our members and portfolio companies.
Responsibilities
- Recruiting & Network Building
- Proactively identify and engage with exceptional technical talent, researchers, and early-stage founders
- Build and nurture a strong network within the startup community, universities, research institutions, and tech companies to generate high-quality deal flow.
- Represent SPC at industry events, conferences, and meetups.
- Investment Evaluation & Research
- Screen and evaluate a high volume of early-stage investment opportunities, including ideas at the "-1 to 0" stage.
- Build a point of view on emerging technologies, market trends, and competitive landscapes
- Community Engagement & Portfolio Support:
- Actively participate in and contribute to the SPC community in Bangalore.
- Support SPC members and portfolio companies
- Assist in portfolio management
- Internal Operations:
- Support the investment team in all aspects of the investment process.
- Help manage the investment pipeline and internal databases.
Qualifications
- Educational Background
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Business, or a related field from a top-tier institution
- Experience
- 2-5 years of experience in tech startup (especially in a product, engineering, or strategy role), venture capital or management consulting
- Core Traits & Skills
- Genuine curiosity about startups, technology, and early-stage company building.
- Analytical & Critical Thinker: Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with the ability to dissect complex problems and make data-driven decisions.
- Founder Empathy: Ability to understand and connect with founders, appreciating the challenges and ambiguities of the "-1 to 0" journey.
- Relationships: Natural ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Bias for action, independence, and comfort owning projects from first draft to final post.
- Technical Acumen: Comfortable understanding and discussing technical concepts
- Strong attention to detail—you sweat every comma, every em-dash, care a lot about how things are done and aim for excellence in everything you do
